Mechanical Drafting

Dimensioning:
Basic dimensioning

What are dimensions?
-Dimensions are the text that is provided with a drawing that describes the exact size and location for the features shown. Also known as size descriptions.

Why use dimensions?
-To ensure that the part made is the part you asked for.

Conversions:
1 inch = 2.54 cm
1 foot = 12 inches
1 km = 1000 cm
1000 cm= 10000 dcm = 1000000 mm

Two methods- aligned and uniondirectional
- Do not place dimensions on objects
- Do not dimension to hidden lines
- Leaders should not be drawn at horizontal or vertical angles
